By hosting an event at the PMA, you treat your guests to a distinct environment, rich with fine art and iconic architecture, while supporting the museum's efforts to offer world-class exhibitions and educational programs to the Maine community and beyond.

We offer the ability to rent museum facilities for private functions exclusively to our Director’s Circle members and Business Members. Our spaces, from the extraordinary Selma Wolf Black Great Hall to the stately McLellan House, will provide an elegant setting for your function, party, or event. PMA Business Members starting at the $1,500 receive discounts on facility rentals.
SELMA WOLF BLACK GREAT HALL
Ideal for: receptions and dinners with a maximum capacity of 175 guests for a standing reception or 130 for dinner.
Rate: $3,000 (Non-profit: $2,000) per four-hour block, plus personnel fees
LOWER GROUND FLOOR
Ideal for: receptions and dinners, and can be rented in conjunction with the Bernard Osher Auditorium. Capacity 180 guests for a standing reception.
Rate: $2,000 (Non-profit: $1,500) per four-hour block, plus personnel fees
BERNARD OSHER FOUNDATION AUDITORIUM
Ideal for: business meetings, multimedia presentations, film screenings, seminars, lectures, and more. Please note that while access to the auditorium is barrier-free, the auditorium stage can only be accessed by stairs.

BOARDROOM

CHERYL R. AND JOSEPH F. BOULOS DINING ROOM IN THE MCLELLAN HOUSE
Ideal for: seated dinners of 16 or fewer people, and cocktail receptions of 30 or fewer guests.
Rate: $2,000 per four-hour block, plus personnel fees
DAVID E. SHAW AND FAMILY SCULPTURE PARK
Ideal for: receptions among the PMA’s outdoor sculptures! Capacity 300, and only available during summer months.
Rate: $3,000 per four-hour block, plus personnel fees

At the PMA’s David E. Shaw and Family Sculpture Park, you can enjoy an intimate wedding ceremony outdoors in the coastal air, among exquisite works of art and architecturally significant buildings. Located in the heart of Portland, the David E. Shaw and Family Sculpture Park is fully accessible and surrounded by the best of Maine culture. We can accommodate 20 guests, including the couple, officiant, and photographer, for a quiet ceremony centered around your closest loved ones. Site visits are by appointment only.
PMA’s Special Events Department will work with you to plan your ceremony. Ceremonies must take place during daily hours of operation, 10 a.m. until 30 minutes past sunset. An additional $250 fee is required for bookings over holidays and holiday weekends. We regret that we are unable to accommodate wedding receptions. Event rental reservations are rain or shine. Fees will not be refunded due to inclement weather.
We regret that the PMA is unavailable for: events for minors (including children’s birthday parties, bar/bat mitzvahs, or proms), fundraising events, wedding receptions, and religious programs.
