Cause for Support: Kids & Families
These days, we’re all looking for new ways to engage with our community, listen to a wider range of voices, and take part in the crucial discussions of our time.
Each year, more than 160,000 people visit the PMA for exactly these experiences—and your support through the Annual Fund makes it possible.
The PMA Annual Fund directly supports all aspects of museum operations, enabling the institution to reflect and serve all members of our community and ensuring that there are no barriers to entry for anyone. By supporting the Annual Fund, you demonstrate the values of promoting Maine's cultural heritage, offering representation for people throughout our diverse neighborhoods, prompting crucial discussions about contemporary concerns, and enriching the state's creative economy.
Support Educators, Kids, and Families
More than 5,000 K-12 students and chaperones experience art through the Free School Tours program every year. After their visit, each student receives a one-time passes so they could return with their families free of charge.
Each March, the museum hosts the annual Youth Art Month installation, featuring art by K-12 students throughout the state, as part of National Youth Art Month.
Educators also have significant resources available to them through the PMA, including free Evening for Educators nights which offer chances to deepen their relationship and discover more about the educational opportunities at the museum.
Additionally, the PMA is dedicated to robust and ever-growing programs aimed at teens and young adults. Through the Homer High School Fellows program, students from the greater Portland area spend several weeks in the summer making art at the museum, visiting the Winslow Homer Studio, and creating programs for teens at the PMA. The PMA hosts an annual Teen Night, during which the entire museum is open exclusively to teenagers free of charge, and has a Teen Team—comprising teenagers from throughout the local school systems.
